We recently welcomed the team from ThermalVent (Wales & West) to our facility for another hands-on trace heating training session.
The session brought together trace heating, temperature control and thermal insulation, giving the team the opportunity to work directly with the products while discussing the practical considerations that go into a complete installation.
From self-regulating heating cables and thermostats to correctly integrating insulation and protective cladding around the finished system, the focus was on practical knowledge that contractors can take back to real projects.
Understanding the Complete Trace Heating System
A reliable trace heating installation involves more than simply selecting a heating cable. Cable type, temperature control, installation method, pipe conditions, thermal insulation and external protection all need to be considered as part of the same system.
This is an important part of our training approach. Rather than looking at individual products in isolation, installers can see how the different components work together and where problems can arise if one part of the system is overlooked.

Trace heating and thermal insulation perform different but complementary roles within a frost protection or temperature maintenance system.
The heating cable provides controlled heat to the pipe or service, while the insulation helps reduce heat loss to the surrounding environment. Depending on the application, the finished installation may also require suitable controls, weather protection and protective cladding.
