At Insulation & More, we’re proud to support our partners through hands-on industry training that enhances skills, safety, and installation quality.
Recently, we hosted a trace heating workshop for the Fire Protect Services team, providing practical guidance on cable preparation, insulation (lagging), and system finishing.
Cable Management & Preparation
Our team demonstrated the correct methods for preparing and connecting heating cables used in trace heating systems. Using the Smart-Guard Electric Trace Heating Controller as an example, participants learned how to manage and wire trace heating boxes safely and efficiently - ensuring full compliance with installation standards.
All fixings and accessories used for the electrical work are available on our website here:

Lagging Installation
We demonstrated how to prepare, cut, and install fiberglass pipe insulation (lagging) across different pipe types and fittings. Fiberglass insulation was used for this training, but we stock a wide range of pipe insulation and lagging materials suitable for all applications, available here:

Apprentices were shown how to arrange, tape, and seal the insulation to achieve a neat, airtight finish that maximises thermal efficiency and system protection. All the accessories used for sealing and securing lagging can be found here:
Cladding Installation & Finishing
Finally, the team completed the installation with protective aluminium cladding, learning how to properly secure and finish the lagged system for long-term durability and weather protection.

Looking Ahead: More Workshops to Come
At Insulation & More, we’re passionate about sharing industry knowledge and supporting the next generation of skilled installers. Following the success of this event, we plan to host more technical workshops and training sessions across the UK.
These sessions will give contractors, apprentices, and engineers the opportunity to gain practical, hands-on experience using the same high-quality materials and accessories we supply daily.
