Description

Introducing the THMU3, a budget-friendly automatic monitoring and control Trace Heating unit designed for use in Sprinkler Systems in accordance with BS EN 12845/LPC/FPA(RC38) regulations. This unit comes in a weather-resistant plastic enclosure rated IP55, with a latching hinged viewing window for easy access to all the controls. It also includes a Temperature sensor assembly.

The THMU3 is equipped with an automatic heating feature that activates when the Sensor Temperature drops below the Heating Set Point, which is preset at 5oC. The unit also has a failsafe operation that switches to the Secondary circuit output if there is a fault in the Primary circuit. Additionally, the THMU3 is designed to monitor the power integrity of both the Primary and Secondary heating outputs at 2-hour intervals. The Heating tape outputs are protected by a 16 Amp Type "B" MCB.

The unit features two heating Set Points: 5oC or 8oC, which can be selected through an internal DIL switch. An LED Bar display indicates the Sensor temperature, and a remote (N/O) input is provided for the installation of an external Thermostat/Switch to override the sensor circuit setting.

The Temperature sensor circuit is monitored for open and short circuit conditions, and any faults will trigger automatic heating, ensuring failsafe operation. The THMU3 can monitor Trace heating in the range of 30 W to 3.0 KW for Constant wattage Heating tape or 30 W to 2.0 KW for Self-regulating Heating tape. Upon initial setup, the unit will auto-calibrate the heating load of both the Primary and Secondary circuits.

LED indicators provide visual indication for "Heating On" and "Fault" for both primary and secondary circuits. A "TEST" switch is also included for manual testing of both primary and secondary outputs. In the event of a fault, the appropriate Fault LED will illuminate along with the internal buzzer, and the Fault contacts (CHO & N/O) will also operate, ensuring failsafe operation. The System ON LED will flash under normal operating conditions. Additionally, the THMU3 can be used as a "Single Heating" monitored unit selected by a DIL switch (with secondary output monitoring/switching being isolated).

All controls and operating instructions are provided on the inner facia, and the unit is designed for easy installation. The front lid can be easily removed with four front screws, and the complete internal assembly can be removed with just two screws, allowing for complete back box access.
