Rockwool HD Wired Mat
ROCKWOOL HD Wired Mat is a heavy-grade, flexible stone wool insulation mat stitched to galvanised wire mesh, designed for demanding industrial thermal insulation applications.
The ROCKWOOL ProRox WM 970 UK reference grade offers a nominal density of 128kg/m³, a maximum service temperature of 680°C and Euroclass A1 non-combustible classification.
Particularly suitable for high-pressure steam pipework, reactors, furnaces and industrial process equipment where elevated operating temperatures and robust insulation are required.
Available in 50mm, 60mm and 80mm thicknesses. Select your required option using the product variants above.

Thermal Conductivity at Different Temperatures
The thermal conductivity of industrial stone wool increases with mean insulation temperature. ROCKWOOL publishes the following performance values for ProRox WM 970 UK.

Values relate to mean insulation temperature rather than necessarily the pipe or equipment operating temperature. Use the applicable manufacturer data for engineered insulation calculations.
How Much HD Wired Mat Do You Need?
For straight circular pipework, estimate the approximate developed insulation length using:
L = 3.14 x (OD + 2t)
OD: Pipe outside
diameter (metres)
t: Insulation
thickness (metres)

developed wrap length (metres)
Multiply the developed wrap length by the total straight pipe run length to estimate the required insulation area. Divide by the coverage of the selected roll and round up.
Example: For 10m² of developed insulation area using 50mm mat: 10 ÷ 3.1 = 3.23, so approximately 4 rolls before installation waste.
This is an approximate purchasing calculation, not a manufacturer insulation design formula. Allow for bends, supports, overlaps, joints, compression and cutting waste. Insulation thickness should be specified separately.

ROCKWOOL offers stainless steel mesh and reinforced aluminium foil facing as special options. Where aluminium foil facing is used, the manufacturer limits its outer temperature to 80°C. These special facings are not assumed to be included as standard.

ROCKWOOL ProRox WM 970 UK has a maximum service temperature of 680°C. The applicable service temperature depends on the exact product grade and insulation system.
Is ROCKWOOL HD Wired Mat non-combustible?
The ProRox WM 970 UK reference grade is classified Euroclass A1 for reaction to fire. This classification does not establish the fire resistance of an entire assembly.
Can HD Wired Mat be used outdoors?
