Rockwool Standard Wired Mat
ROCKWOOL Standard Wired Mat is a flexible, high-temperature stone wool insulation mat stitched to galvanised wire mesh. Designed for thermal and acoustic insulation of industrial pipework, vessels and equipment, its flexible construction allows installation around curved and irregular surfaces.
The ROCKWOOL ProRox WM 960 reference grade has a nominal density of 100kg/m³, a maximum service temperature of 660°C and Euroclass A1 non-combustible classification.
Available in 50mm, 60mm, 80mm and 100mm thicknesses. Select your required option from the product variants above.
Where Can ROCKWOOL Wired Mat Be Used?
Industrial Pipework
Suitable for thermal insulation of specified hot process pipes, steam services and other industrial pipework.
Boilers, Furnaces & Vessels
Flexible insulation for suitable industrial vessels, boilers, reactors and furnaces operating at elevated temperatures.
Curved & Irregular Surfaces
Galvanised mesh reinforcement helps the insulation conform to curved pipework and equipment where rigid insulation is less practical.
Thermal & Acoustic Insulation
Stone wool provides thermal insulation and acoustic absorption, with Euroclass A1 reaction-to-fire performance for the referenced WM 960 grade.
Available Thicknesses & Roll Coverage
Choose your insulation thickness according to the required thermal performance and installation specification.
| Thickness | Listed Roll Dimensions | Coverage |
|---|---|---|
| 50mm | 1m x 3.7m | 3.7m² |
| 60mm | 1m x 3m | 3.0m² |
| 80mm | 1m x 2.3m | 2.3m² |
| 100mm | 1m x 1.8m | 1.8m² |
Roll dimensions reflect the listed product variants. Please check the roll format before ordering where exact widths are required.

Thermal Conductivity at Different Temperatures
The thermal conductivity of industrial stone wool varies with mean insulation temperature. ROCKWOOL publishes the following values for ProRox WM 960.
| Mean Temperature | Thermal Conductivity |
|---|---|
| 50°C | 0.039 W/mK |
| 100°C | 0.045 W/mK |
| 150°C | 0.052 W/mK |
| 200°C | 0.059 W/mK |
| 250°C | 0.068 W/mK |
| 300°C | 0.078 W/mK |
| 350°C | 0.089 W/mK |
| 400°C | 0.102 W/mK |
| 500°C | 0.131 W/mK |
| 600°C | 0.167 W/mK |
| 660°C | 0.191 W/mK |
Values relate to mean insulation temperature, which may differ from the equipment operating temperature. Use the appropriate manufacturer data for engineered insulation calculations.
How Much Wired Mat Do You Need?
For straight circular pipework, estimate the approximate developed insulation length using:
L = 3.14 x (OD + 2t)
OD: Pipe outside diameter (m)
t: Insulation thickness (m)
L: Approximate wrap length (m)
Multiply the developed wrap length by the total pipe run length to estimate the required insulation area. Divide this by the selected roll coverage.
Allow for bends, joints, supports, installation waste and specified fixing arrangements. This is an approximate material estimating method, not an insulation thickness calculation.
Working with ROCKWOOL Wired Mat
Fit Around Equipment
Form the mat around pipework or equipment profiles while maintaining the required insulation thickness.
Secure with Suitable Fixings
Use appropriate mechanical fixings, lacing or binding arrangements compatible with the installation requirements.
External Protection
For exposed industrial installations, use suitable protective cladding and moisture management details.
Check Operating Conditions
Confirm service temperature, required insulation thickness, thermal performance and support requirements.

ROCKWOOL Standard Wired Mat FAQs
Wired stone wool mats are commonly used for thermal and acoustic insulation of industrial pipework, boilers, vessels, tanks and high-temperature equipment.
Insulation & More offers 50mm, 60mm, 80mm and 100mm options, with different roll dimensions and coverage for each thickness.
Standard and heavier-duty wired mats are intended for different industrial insulation requirements. As manufacturer reference grades, ProRox WM 960 has a nominal density of 100kg/m³, while WM 970 UK has a nominal density of 128kg/m³. Select the grade required by your project specification.
The ProRox WM 960 reference grade achieves Euroclass A1 reaction-to-fire classification. This does not automatically establish a fire-resistance rating for the complete insulation assembly.
Wired stone wool mats can be incorporated into suitable external industrial insulation systems. Protective cladding and appropriate moisture management details may be required.
The referenced ProRox WM 960 specification gives a maximum service temperature of 660°C. Check the latest manufacturer documentation and confirm the supplied grade before relying on this value.
Standard ProRox WM 960 uses stone wool stitched to galvanised wire mesh. Stainless steel mesh and other facings are available as manufacturer options, subject to product availability.
